South African Copyright Amendment Bill 2015 – Feedback on process

In July 2016, Cabinet approved the introduction of the Copyright Amendment Bill 2015 into Parliament for processing.   The Bill still awaits final certification but the uncertified but Cabinet-approved Bill was in the interim presented to NEDLAC.  Since Parliament will be going into recess in mid-December 2016, it is now envisaged that the Bill will be introduced in the next session of Parliament in 2017.   I understand that the Trade and Industry Portfolio Committee will advertise public meetings in the Government Gazette in due course. This is the only opportunity that stakeholders will have to see and discuss the Revised Bill.  These meetings will be held at Parliament in Cape Town.
